Plants

Planting PLANTS to cultivate vanilla resources

A Plant has three stats, all of which have a maximum level of 10.

  • Drop level: Determines how fast the Plant produces resources

  • Speed: Determines how fast the Plant grows

  • Breed Strength: Determines how fast the Plant breeds and how often a breeding produces an increase in Plant stats

Primal Plants

There are 7 Primal Plant types that can be found. All other Cultivation Plant types (there are 82 other types) are produced by breeding.

Primal Plant types and how to find them:

  • Earth - Mining ores

  • Water - Placing and picking up water in a bucket

  • Lava - Placing and picking up lava in a bucket

  • Darkness - Killing hostile mobs*

  • Light - Killing passive mobs*

  • Air - Killing flying mobs*

  • Power - Killing boss mobs (Warden, Wither, Ender Dragon, Elder Guardian)

INFO: * There are some exceptions, and some mobs that are not included

The percent chance for a Primal Plant seed to drop is server-dependent.

When you receive a Plant seed drop, it will not show any stats. Until you use a Plant Analyser on it, you cannot determine its stats. Therefore, a Plant Analyser is critical to the process of farming for resources.

Breeding

Important definitions:

  • Parent Plants: 2 Plants that, when bred, can successfully produce a Child Plant

  • Child Plant: The Plant that 2 Parent Plants produce that is different from both Parent Plants.

Breeding Setup

2 Parent Plants fully grown, 1 block away from each other on a vertical or horizontal axis.

Each Parent Plant needs to be right-clicked two times with Crop Sticks to prepare for breeding.

(Two Plants one space apart, fully grown, with crop sticks, showing bred Plant in between)

You can breed together two of the same Plant or two different Plants. The result of these Plants may be one of the Parent Plants or a Child Plant. Some combinations of Parent Plants have more than one type of Child Plant.

When a breeding results in a Plant of the same type as one of the Parents, the Plant may have higher stats than the current Parent Plants. If the Parent Plants have significantly different stats, the resulting Plant will have stats averaging the Parent Plant stats.

Making a bred Plant with the higher stats a Parent Plant for a new breeding will gradually increase the stats of any resulting Plants until they reach the (10/10/10) max.

If, however, a breeding results in a Child Plant different from both Parent Plants, it will always have stats of (1/1/1).

Breeding two of the same Parent Plant type together almost always produces a result of the same Plant type. There are only two exceptions.

If 2 Plants cannot reproduce, black particles will be shown from time to time as they attempt to breed.

Growing and Harvesting Resources

To cultivate Plants for resources, place the Plant on the ground and right click it with one crop stick.

  • Given some time it will grow, then it will yield a single resource.

  • Different types of Plants have different growth times.

  • Many Plants can yield more than one type of resource. For example, one Plant yields all colors of wool.

A fully grown Plant that is ripe will be holding the item it yields. Right click the Plant to harvest.

NOTE: You can get hints for successful Plant combinations from Wandering Traders. The Darkness, Spectrum, and Wealth Plants appear to not be able level up when they are at a stat level of 1/1/1. They need to be paired with another plant of a higher upgraded level (i.e. 2/1/2 or 10/10/10) that makes a valid Child Plant with that Plant in order to break that barrier, then they will level just fine.
